Ganderbal, Jan 24 (KNO): Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shyambir on Tuesday said that this year’s Republic Day celebrations in the district would be “different” from previous years. He expressed gratitude to all those who cooperated and supported in making the arrangements for the January 26 function.
The DC said the district Ganderbal has successfully held a full dress rehearsal for the 74th Republic Day celebrations at the Qamariya Ground here.
“I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and support. Today's programme is different from previous years. All of our students, teachers, and media friends have worked hard, and this year's 26th January function will be a grand event. I would like to invite everyone to participate in this year's function and enjoy it well,” he said.
The DC unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by various departments for the event.
Reports reaching the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the parade featured contingents of various security and police forces, as well as students from local schools. In addition, cultural performances and patriotic songs were presented by students from various educational institutions.
In his address, DC Shyambir hailed the efforts of all departments involved in ensuring the smooth execution of the celebrations. He issued instructions for further fine-tuning of arrangements for media management and cultural programmes. The rehearsal was attended by the ADDC, ADC, ASP, CPO and other district officers from both civil and police departments.
Overall, the full dress rehearsal for the 74th Republic Day in Ganderbal was a success, and residents can look forward to a memorable celebration of the national event.

Meanwhile, an official told KNO that security has been beefed up ahead of Republic Day celebrations in Ganderbal. He said police with the assistance of CRPF have laid nakas at entry and exit points of the district.
“Every incoming and outgoing vehicle is being frisked at various places, particularly the road heading towards the main venue where the tricolor will be unfurled on Republic day,” he said—(KNO)
